Director's Note

Cathy  Welcome to the Cadillac-Wexford Public Library

The Cadillac Wexford Public Library Board and staff strive to provide comfortable and welcoming, stimulating and engaging ‘third spaces’ for our community members and visitors at the main library and the branch libraries in Manton, Mesick and Buckley.

As a third space between the comforts of home and the demands of school and the workplace, the Cadillac Wexford Public Library system welcomes our community as they explore our resources and the opportunities that are open to all.

The main library has stunning views of beautiful Lake Cadillac as it sparkles in the summertime and enchants with orange and purple sunsets in the winter thus providing an inviting community learning space. For the young, there is a creative children’s room providing multiple programs in a word-rich environment.   The branches serve their unique communities with specially tailored collections. Users will find a county-wide system of materials for both leisure and learning in both print and electronic formats as they pursue their ideas and interests.

For materials that are not on hand MeLCat2 expands the library’s immediate space to the resources of a state-wide library.
Come to the thirds space of Cadillac and Wexford County – the Cadillac Wexford Public Library and branches in Manton, Mesick and Buckley, where as Mae West said, “too much of a good thing can be wonderful”.

1 “Third places are "anchors" of community life and facilitate and foster broader, more creative interaction. The hallmarks of a true "third place": free or inexpensive; food and drink, while not essential, are important; highly accessible: proximate for many (walking distance); involve regulars – those who habitually congregate there; welcoming and comfortable; both new friends and old should be found there.”

2 Administered by the Library of Michigan in partnership with Michigan's libraries of all types, the Michigan eLibrary (http://mel.org) will provide all Michigan residents with free access to online full-text articles, full-text books, digital images, and other valuable research information at any time via the Internet; and provide an easy-to-use interlibrary loan system to allow Michigan residents to borrow books and other library materials for free from participating Michigan libraries.
