Rules for this contest:

1. The contest is open to any person of any age.
2. There is no limit to the number of submissions an individual can have.
3. Once the entry window is closed, CWPL staff will pick 5 designs as finalists.
4. The 5 finalists will be posted on this page for the community to vote on.
5. The design with the most votes will be featured on the new CWPL cards.

The theme of the contest will be "Unity" to emphasize our four branches coming together to make one library system.

Entries will be accepted for one month: September 1st - September 30th 2023.

Entries can be submitted to drew@cadillaclibrary.org or in person at any CWPL branch.

Voting for the 5 finalists will begin Wednesday October 4th and run through Wednesday October 18th.

The winning design will be featured on the new CWPL cards later in the year and recieve a $100 gift card to Horizon Books. 

2023 CWPL Library Card Design Contest

OFFICIAL RULES

1. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN.
2. HOW TO ENTER: Entries may be submitted on the CWPL website (https://www.cadillaclibrary.org/library-card-design) or in person at any library branch. Enter as often as you wish. Entries become the property of CWPL and will not be returned. Entries must be received by September 30, 2023, when the contest ends.
3. ELIGIBILITY: Open to Michigan residents, of any age, except for employees and members of their immediate family or persons living in the same household (collectively "CWPL Parties"). Void where prohibited.
4. WINNER SELECTION: One or more members of CWPL staff will review all entries submitted by September 30, 2023. Entries that the staff member(s) deem inappropriate for any reason will be removed from the pool of entries. All other entries will be made available for all CWPL staff to review and vote on. The top 5 entries receiving votes (“Finalists”) will be posted on https://www.cadillaclibrary.org/ for the community’s vote. The winning design will be the Finalist with the most votes. Odds of winning depend on the number of entries received. The winner will be notified by CWPL and must sign and return any required Affidavit of Eligibility and Release to accept any prize and be confirmed the winner. If the winner is a minor under the age of 18, then both the winner and the winner’s parent or guardian must sign the Affidavit of Eligibility and Release. Failure to respond within the applicable time period will result in forfeiture of prize and CWPL will have the option to award any prize to an alternate winner. All income taxes resulting from acceptance of any prize are the responsibility of the winner. By entering this contest, entrant accepts and agrees to these Official Rules and the decisions of CWPL, which will be final in all matters. By entering this contest, entrants waive all right to, and hold harmless CWPL from, any claim, liability, loss, damage (including punitive, incidental, and consequential damages), or expense (including attorneys' fees) arising out of or in connection with participation in this contest or the acceptance, use, or misuse of any prize. Acceptance of a prize also constitutes permission to the CWPL Parties to use winner's library card design, name, likeness, and biographical information for marketing purposes without further compensation or right of approval, unless prohibited by law. CWPL will not be responsible for: lost, late, misdirected, damaged, illegible, incomplete, incorrect, or postage due entries; lost, late, or misdirected prize notices; or any typographical, or other error in the printing of the offer, administration of the contest, or announcement of the winner. In the event of any error, problem, or issue in administering this contest as solely determined by CWPL, CWPL reserves the right to cancel or modify this contest in a manner deemed appropriate by CWPL, at CWPL's sole discretion.
5. PRIZES: The winner will receive a $100 gift card to Horizon Books and their design will be featured on the next printing of new CWPL library cards, and may also be used in other CWPL promotional materials. The next printing date of CWPL library cards that will show the winner’s design has not yet been determined and is in CWPL’s sole discretion. The total prize value is $100 plus the intangible value associated with the library card design’s publicity. No substitution or transfer of prize permitted by winner. CWPL reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value. If a potential winner is disqualified for any reason, CWPL will award the prize to an alternate winner. The winning design will eventually be replaced by another design on a date in the future that is currently not determined.
6. CHOICE OF LAW AND FORUM: Entrant agrees that all matters arising out of or relating to this contest and these Official Rules are governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of Michigan, without giving effect to any of its conflict of laws provisions thereof. Entrant further agrees that any legal suit, action, or proceeding arising out of or relating to this contest and these Official Rules will be brought exclusively in the applicable federal or state courts located in Michigan.
